I didn’t assume Larry could top Season 6,”Meet the Blacks,” but this year is even better.Curb has shows you never contemplate on TV, having sex with a wheelchair date, avoiding kissing someone you know who fair had oral sex with your best friend,or one of your female employee’s wearing a slit off shirt with belly corpulent hagging out.I can’t wait to stare what happens with the Seinfeld reunion.I hope this exhibit goes on forever

I am reviewing the season so far and not the DVD boom. I have honest watched the first three episodes and I have to say that this season seems worth the wait. The first two episodes were classic Curb and had me cracking up. Episode three gave us the first chapter in what tons of fans have been waiting for: the Seinfeld pseudo reunion. It was tremendous to study the obsolete cast benefit together and hearing Jerry Seinfeld say the F word was alone worth the HBO subscription designate. Hope the season only gets better. I honest pre-ordered the DVD this one looks like a keeper

The UK market gets a headstart in seeing the release of Season 1 of The West Fly in 2 DVD box sets (Location 1-Episodes 1-11 & Plot 2-Episodes 12-22) . The exhibit itself is snappy paced and brimming with shining dialogue. Once you establish it in your DVD player, you wouldn’t want to conclude until you salvage to the demolish of it. Special features for Region 1 include TV area & short interviews with major cast members and Aaron Sorkin, the creator of the note & DVD-ROM enhanced features. Status 2 extras include several TV spots and ‘Making of’ featurette for all TWW fans & DVD-ROM features. Extremely satisfying TV viewing. Can’t wait for the recent seasons to advance out on DVD.

As a UK resident you would assume that I would not be involved in American politics. You would have been apt, that was until I began whatching The West Flee on UK TV. A soon as the DVD was avaialble I had to have it, I now have Season One and Two. In Season One we come by to meet the characters that develop a finish community who strive to provide us with an insight to the everyday goings-on in the White House. You immediately originate to warm to people whom you have never met before yet feel you could occupy a conversation with if you met them. I saw the true play and fell in treasure with the account! Everyone can narrate to the struggles this family encounters. The singing is astounding (thank you Johnny Gill and Shirley Murdock) and the humor is positive to brighten your day. This play will begin up your eyes and heart, and re-teach you some life lessons you’ve may have lost.

Great cast! It’s crazy to peek Jermaine Crawford aka “Dukie” (from the Wire) all grown! The kid is a grand actor and I’m looking forward to view more from him. Johnny Gill – Level-headed sounds enormous! Titanic to peer him again. The play itself was radiant capable. The acting, singing, and underlying theme were strong. I would appreciate to view this play in person with this same cast. Where they do that at?

This luminous work by director Morris is the stuff of life. And death. It arouses the most basic apt and wrong questions of being human through an enormously complex and yet simple man, Robert Exclusive McNamara. It seems no coincidence, his middle name, as we score to know him in all his cleverness and contradictions. Morris subtly illuminates, literally through McNamara’s eyes, what it means to have power over life and death. Like God. There is something almost spiritual in McNamara’s eyes, edited against searing images of, well, graphs, statistics, memoranda, bursting firebombs and nuclear mushrooms, almost all rarely seen-before footage. The eyes are the soul of this film – McNamara’s are a combination of supreme confidence and crude doubt. But not only his eyes – for example, we watch President Kennedy’s eyes frozen in the lens as he tells the nation of imminent nuclear war in 1962, a view that would construct a Marine shiver. This unusual interview technique (“interrotron” ) draws us into what? War? Peace? Honor? Life? Power? Disagreeable?

Born 85 years ago, McNamara is the quintessential man of his time, what Brokaw called the greatest generation, a sobriquet this documentary underscores. In McNamara’s words he deplored the sorrow and pity of the four titanic wars of his lifetime; the trenches in France; the nuclear and indiscriminate firebombing of innocent Japanese; the debacle in Korea; the flaming jungles of Vietnam. His vow of statistics is breathtaking. But it is the eyes that stammer an inner truth, the trusty opposite of his concise, rational words – his 11 “lessons”. We examine a man who never found himself in harm’s method. We peruse eyes so ironically blinded by a circa 1918 vision of duty and honor that, though he loathed the horrifics of Vietnam, he was compelled to allow his correct judgment to go unexpressed until nearly 60,000 Americans were slow. He was at once perhaps the most distinguished man in the world and its most scandalous. It is easy to witness why a colorful young President Kennedy would resolve someone as Defense Secretary who seemed so like himself, but tragically without the courage. And why, with Kennedy’s death, McNamara by sheer ambition and brilliance would ascend to the very pinnacle of power.

Yet, I couldn’t abhor this guy. Perhaps the most telling moment is McNamara’s certain devastation at Kennedy’s assassination 41 years ago, again told in his eyes and a rare, emotional choking swear. So it’s difficult to blame him for all those deaths he might have prevented — McNamara genuinely believed he was doing the upright thing for his Presidents: through an obsessive sense of duty and loyalty. Now that his day of legacy approaches, he expresses criticism over the actions of others — General LeMay and President Johnson are the favored targets. But McNamara cannot quite bring himself to admit his occupy mistakes of gargantuan proportions. Yet it’s quite distinct that he was one of only two men who could have ended the 7-year slaughter (of his term in office) . Many may rep that failure a reason to dislike the man. I found it honest human.

This film offers up no easy answers (certainly not his 11 “lessons’), but more importantly raises many fundamental questions. Philip Glass’ elegiac, edgy scoring perfectly meshes with this thriller. An impressive and significant contribution to conception our nation’s ambivalent past.

Errol Morris’s aesthetic documentary is about one of the 20th century’s most famous players: Robert McNamara, who reprises the highlights of his life and professional career. The movie covers a lot of ground, including McNamara’s stint as a Ford Motor Co. executive, his participation as a war planner in World War II, and his crucial involvement as secretary of defense under President John F. Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and under Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson during the Vietnam War. There are some fair revelations, including his role in the firebombing of Japan, as well as the nuclear face-off between the United States and Cuba. This is another incandescent coup for Morris, the inspired documentarian who has made a career out of conversations with the most curious subjects. He tells a narrative that knocks you moral off your feet.

This may very well be the saddest movie I have ever seen in my life, but it is also one of the best. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do. It tells the yarn of two young women who meet when they are 11 years dilapidated. At a peer, they seem like two completely different people, but in the destroy, it’s their strong devotion to their friendship that form them so stop. Bette Midler does an ample job in her portrayal as CC Bloom, a feisty redhead who is definite to succeed in music and will do almost anything to do so. Hilary Whitney, played by the talented Barbara Hershey, is a serene, reserved woman who often finds herself jealous of CC’s rising success. CC and Hilary may be very different, but they grow even closer when Hilary gives birth to a child–a aesthetic slight girl named Victoria. When Hilary becomes diagnosed with a fatal disease, she is forced to search her soul and strengthen her relationships with CC and Victoria. Throughout the movie, CC and Hilary go through many difficult times, but in the extinguish, their friendship prevails. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone, but don’t inquire of to have dry eyes at the kill! It will accomplish you laugh, it will build you bawl, and it will touch every share of your heart. It really does expose that even though two friends may be very different from one another, and even though they may go through a lot of rough times, it is the strength of their friendship that will be the decisive element. Go survey this movie–you won’t be sorry!

Beaches is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it is one of my approved. I have never seen such a spicy film about friends, and the trials and tribulations, the joys and fears, that go with the friendship. The music, is capable. By far Bette’s best music to date. On many tracks there is a resonance of sadness in each tag. The standout obviously is the classic ballad “Wind Beneath My Wings”, very uplifting, gloomy, but joyous at the same time. I sang it at a friend’s funeral a few years ago. “Baby Mine”, “The Friendship Theme” (instrumental) and “I Judge It’s Going To Rain Today” are all black songs, that get you assume on life (along with “Wind Beneath My Wings”) and realize how precious and short our lives are, and how we shouldn’t assume it for granted. The fun side is shown through songs like “I’ve Level-headed Got My Health” and “Otto Titsling”. I also really like the veil of the Dolly Parton song “I Know You By Heart”, its on Dolly’s 1987 Rainbow album (out of print) and its a duet with Smokey Robinson. Overall though, this is a magnificent album to listen to, its honest brimming with quality material and talent. I also suggest you accompany this cd with the movie, absolutely a must explore if you haven’t seen it yet!

Well, being a ratherly “stale” movie I guess that clear scenes for the time were “grievous”, but compared to the movie “the Image” (our first Metzger film) it really sucks! The backround noise is unpleasant! When they are not talking you have to turn down the volume due to the “backround shhhhhhh noise”.

The movie is about the “life stories” of two working girls (one in Paris and one in Munich), it gives a resplendent respectable inside concept of their “daily routines”.

Don’t inquire of any hardcore scenes! The best you gain is 3 pairs of “boobies”, but for the time I guess that was already very “courageous”!

While I was a shrimp bit skeptical on purchasing this after reading all the negative reviews about compatibility issues on the PS3, I decided to select the risk after confirming Amazon’s return policy and hearing about how awesome this video was. The disc I received worked pretty on my PS3 and looks absolutely fantastic. This is an account snowboarding film bulky of benefit country, powder-shredding goodness. Park rats beware: there are absolutely no rails in this movie, it’s all about gargantuan drops, vast air and powder. The cinematography here is top notch and the blu-ray transfer looked flawless on my widescreen. This is something people who don’t even be pleased snowboarding can pick up into. The only accelerate here is that there is too remarkable Travis Rice and not distinguished diversity in the lineup of riders. But hey, it’s his movie! Jeremy Jones actually steals the demonstrate in a mind-blowing sequence that ends with him busting his face and your jaw dropping in amazement. Another quip I have is the music is too slooooww. While it works for some parts it’s definitely snooze-inducing towards the kill. More Exodus, please! All in all a sick video, definitely up there with some of the best and worth buying even impartial to exhibit off your blu-ray/hdtv setup.

I’ve heard of all the defects and issues with the Blu-rays. Let me shriek you that not all of the copies out there are ghastly. I’ve been told that only 1-10% are substandard.

Anyways, I received my non-defective copy from SportsFlicks, and once I started watching, I couldn’t procure my mouth to shut. I’ve watched many snowboarding films, and this is unbiased incredible. The amount of work that they must have assign into the creation of this documentary has to be unimaginable. It gets even better on Blu-ray. The represent is so sure that you can sight every slight detail. The sound is okay, it’s only normal Dolby Digital (no HD audio here) and it suits the film well enough.

I’ve been a gargantuan fan of the work of the tedious spacious blues historian/folklorist, Robert Palmer, for sometime now. His book, DEEP BLUES, is generally regarded as the definitive reference on the Delta tradition… and rightly so (needless to say, if you don’t have it… catch it) . What a treat to finally score a chance to meet the guy… albeit, on my TV hide.

In this eponymous documentary, Palmer assumes the role of the proverbial stale “tour guide,” casually offering us expert commentary, laced with intelligent anecdotes and served up with dry Southern wit. While we do hear and glance a vast deal of Palmer, the film never loses its main focus– the blues and the musicians who maintain this considerable element of American musical heritage alive and kicking. Each of the featured artists performs one or two songs in their entirety– in entertaining incompatibility to so many other music documentaries, which par down their musical selections to excerpted sound bites to gain room for talk, talk and more talk.

Here we gather everything from down-home guitars and mouth harps being played on farm house porches to corpulent bands–influnced by the recent Chicago-style, yet peaceful distinctly “Pure Delta”–playing in black, smoke-filled juke joints. Factual to the blues tradition, the music is hot and sweaty. You can’t inspect this film and sit still–you gotta shake something. Highlights: cane fife player Napoleon Strickland (you can hear more of this improbable pre-blues tradition on TRAVELING THROUGH THE JUNGLE: NEGRO FIFE AND DRUM MUSIC FROM THE DEEP SOUTH, an album on the TESTAMENT impress, and several ARHOOLIE compilations) ; the totally stylin’ Jessie Mae Hemphill (granddaughter of Blind Sid Hemphill, the pre-blues style fiddler/quills [panpipes] player documented in the Lomax field recordings) ; harp player Bud Spires telling a folktale about the devil, accompanied by Jack Owen’s soulful guitar picking in the cranky, individualistic Bentonia style, popularized by the early bluesman, Skip James; and Lonnie Pitchford’s intense singing as he accompanies himself on the diddley bow (a raised metal string nailed to the side of a house, which you pluck with a plectrum and ticket with a pace) .

The film covers some of the same territory as Alan Lomax’s great “The Land Where the Blues Began,” apparently a few years down the line. It offers so much–the slack, respectful cinematography of Robert Mugge; the involved, informed, perceptive commentary of the gradual, lamented Robert Palmer; the riveting performances of Jessie Mae Hemphill, Roosevelt “Booba” Barnes, Junior Kimbrough, and others. The sequence featuring Grand Jack “The Oilman” Johnson, particularly on “Catfish Blues,” is worth the tag of the note in itself. It’s one of the best juke joint performances ever captured on film. This film is notable, distinguished, and downright gripping.

I’m Judy Irving, the producer/director of “Wild Parrots,” and I’d like to address Wes’s misconceptions in “Warning: DVD is not in wide cloak.” The film was shot in 16mm (1.66 to 1), which is the same shape as a tv cloak. When it was blown up to 35mm for theatrical release, each shot in the movie has to lose 39% of its recent image at top and/or bottom, to reach at the 1.85 to 1 wide-screen aspect ratio. For each shot, I had to choose what to lose: head room? bottom? or a cramped of both? For the DVD release, I specifically requested that the film be mastered in its fresh 16mm dimensions, so that viewers could witness 1) 39% more image, and 2) how each shot was originally framed. Wes’s confusion may have resulted from IMDB stating that the film was shot in wide-screen. It wasn’t. Luxuriate In!

Not only an endearing, curious and environmentally shiny documentary, this film is also droll, thought-provoking and interesting. The yarn of Tag Bittner’s lag to become the expert on and the caretaker of the flock of wild parrots of Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, while he avoids most of the appearances of being connected to society or to society’s values along the method, certainly makes one wonder about the importance of some of the taken-for-granted symbols of success. The respect he earns for the gaze of the birds is a result of the intelligence, sensitivity, and acute observation skills he brings to his passion, while he wryly maintains a charmingly self-deprecating belief of himself– even if he DOES exclaim being eccentric. What’s unpleasant with eccentric?

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill! Click Here

It is a movie about the parrots as worthy as about Brand. If you can explore this movie and not be convinced of the individuality of the birds’ personalities, then you are hopelessly anthropocentric. If you ogle Mingus dance and are not convinced he’s enjoying the music, or if Connor’s fable in no scheme moves you, then you may have become far too itsy-bitsy in your thought of the world; a bird’s discover concept is certainly called for. This is a quirky and splendid narrative, lovingly told. I did not gain the ending to be a surprise, as many did, but agree that it was uplifting.

Congratulations to director Judy Irving. Like the other reviewers, I will recall the DVD because this is one I’ll want to eye again over time. A-

I’m going to commence the review off with the obvious: this is not a movie, but rather a documentary on the Kings Of Comedy Tour. In other words, a stand-up comedy film. You’re probably reading this and wondering “why would anybody sell a collection of comedy skits as a full-length feature film? ” Glimpse the movie and you’ll understand. While no doubt marvelous for television viewing (partly because they’re all on BET), the experience in the theatre gives an overall impression of being there, actually watching Steve Harvey, DL Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac toss their routines live. As for the performers themselves, some of them are downright hilarious – I particularly like Steve Harvey and, of course Bernie Mac – while DL Hughley is kinda so-so, spending most of the time talking about panties and dissing audience members. But even the weaker performances survive because the performers are energetic and bristling with enthusiasm. This ends up making the material seem a lot funnier than it really is. I guarantee you’ll derive yourself laughing till you’re crying over jokes that really aren’t all that humorous (like me as well as everyone else that was in the theatre) . DL Hughley is no doubt decent overall, and Cedric the Entertainer has his colorful moments, although as a whole they aren’t really anything special. Emcee Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac, on the other hand, are awesome. Steve Harvey’s material is actually silly to inaugurate with (I Like the Immense bit at the beginning), but a lot of it is intriguing as well. He manages to salvage humour in worship, spirituality and family life without sounding blasphemous or disrespectful. Most importantly, he means every single word he says, and that connects with the audience all too well when talking about romance and adore. As for Bernie Mac: THIS is the skit that makes the movie so honorable. Without a doubt the star of the point to, Bernie talks rudely about his kids and his modern parenting techniques, and pokes fun at other parents. His subject matter can be a puny hazardous, but he never comes through as disrespectful or snarky. Whereas Steve Harvey delivers his skits with pure honesty, Mac’s charm comes from the fact that its determined that not a single word of it is right. This allows him to gape territory that others may be worried to. As a whole, this movie is highly recommended if you cherish to laugh. It is an entirely worthwhile plot to ruin two hours, and I can guarantee you’ll leave the theatre (or television) with a vast smile on your face.

This film captures stand-up performances from comedians Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer and Bernie Mac, and is a non-stop laugh-fest in the highest sense of the term. This review is not going to be a very long one – to be rather fair. The humor, of course, revolves around many taboo subjects like racial stereotypes, sex, religion and other things – if you are easily offended by any of these things, I suggest you avoid this film like the plague, because it is no holds barred! A few of the many hilarious scenes that I judge personal favorites from each comedian:

(1) . Steve Harvey does a glorious gracious job of mocking the characters in the Spacious film who determine to maintain playing their violins amidst a major catastrophe. He later goes into detail about why he prefers “old-school” music; particularly old-school R&B, over the hip-hop and rap trends that seem to be preferred by the unusual generation. He does an effective job of lambasting rappers, and is absolutely laugh-out-loud hilarious. I was practically in tears from laughing so hard at this. Needs to be seen to be believed.

(2) . D.L. Hughley was hilarious too, but like some have pointed out, some of his routines came from other, earlier stand-up specials. Side note: If you can procure a copy of his stand-up comedic special entitled “Going Home,” consume it up. That performance I maintain to be his funniest, and it leaves me rolling on the floor everytime.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Original Kings of Comedy! Click Here

(3) . Cedric The Entertainer’s humor was the least brash of all the four, and has more of a laid-back, subtle charm, which mild manages to get you laugh. The whole break-dance scene was droll, as well as his “cruising into outer residence” scene, his self-made “martial art style” scene, and others.

(4) . Bernie Mac – noble lord. He was without a doubt the craziest, most brash, most (messed) -up comedian in this region. Sadistic and intensely cathartic, even. It’s only fitting that he would be the last performer. His routine was unprejudiced a diminutive too grand for me – and level-headed is – and I mean that in the best device possible. His takes on kids and how they collect (or should acquire) punished, sex and orgasm, and the “stuttering” kid were impartial too great – not only was I laughing too hard, but my lungs began to injure, I nearly lost my disclose for a brief period, and I was nearly out of oxygen. The guy was too mighty! Saying that he cracked me up would be a Large understatement.

All in all, recommended for many who want (or need) a major laugh-fest. Sometimes, one of the best ways – if not the best draw – to deal with dreadful situations in life is to be able to laugh at them – as exemplified in this film. If you suffer from chronic asthma, heart disease, and/or are easily shrinking – particularly by the things mentioned in the above paragraphs (including loads of profanity) – discontinue VERY far away from this – you will be digging yourself an early grave.
